And The Winners Are
The Ceduna Community Voted Business Awards were recently decided for the year of 2020. These awards were run through our Ceduna Online community discussion group Ceduna Soapbox which is part of our online network.
Ceduna Online opened the voting at the beginning of November by creating a poll for each award. Members of the local community were then free to add nominations to the polls for the community to vote on. Each person is able to place a single vote per award category with votes and tallies being final at the predetermined cut-off time. Voting is completely transparent and publicly visible for the entire duration, this eliminates the need for vote counting and judging panelists and ensures the awards are 100% community voted.
The awards offer local businesses a certificate for their wall, a title to include in their advertising for the year ahead, and they also offer visitors a helpful guide to make great choices when seeking a great coffee, where to try local oysters in The Oyster Capital of Australia, and where to indulge in a great meal of fish and chips in The Home of King George Whiting. It’s also a fun way to boost community morale by giving and receiving recognition for excellence.
The results for 2020
The winners of our 2nd Ceduna Community Voted Awards are:
Melanie Trewartha (nee Samsonenko) earned herself the Ceduna Community Voted Shop Local Ambassador Of The Year 2020 title for her willingness to like and share local business messages. To be eligible for this award nominees must be acting on a purely voluntary basis.

Ceduna Home Timber and Hardware was named Ceduna Community Voted Employer Of The Year 2020, and Sharon Urbanski was a clear community favorite gaining the title of Ceduna Community Voted Employee Of The Year 2020, and not only did her votes double the total of all other votes combined but did so by almost quadrupling the votes of second place.
