The Advertiser. Monday 8 June 1936. Special Grant For Murat Bay Hospital. CEDUNA, June 7.
Information was received by the District Council of Murat Bay yesterday from the Chief Secretary’s office that it is proposed to consider in the estimates for 1936-37 a special grant of £525 for the Murat Bay District Hospital. The Hospital is being erected at a contract price of £4525, and the Council raised a loan for £4,000 to carry out the work Mr H. W. R. Weise’s accepted tender £4525, several hundred pounds below the next lowest tender and the Council intended to meet the additional 525 pounds from general revenue.
The action of the Government which is much appreciated locally, will obviate the need for this. Rapid progress is being made on the building and the foundation stone will be laid by the State President of the Country Women’s Association, Mrs I J Warnes on the King’s birthday, June 29. No annual subsidy from the Government has been asked for as the Council will lease the new building to the Bush Church Aid Society which will staff and maintain it as is being done in temporary quarters housing a cottage hospital.
