About the region

The area is known as the Oyster Capital of Australia, home of King George Whiting, and is part of the wider area that is also known as the ‘Seafood Frontier’. A shopping hub on the Eyre Peninsula that offers a broad range of shopping options. An annual Oysterfest is also hosted here on the lawns of the beautiful Murat Bay foreshore. Home to the world-famous Cactus surfing beach, and an industrious community of agriculture, aquaculture, shipping and mining of salt and gypsum to name just a few.
